This first week was fast and a lot of new information. I
have never done a blog, info-graphic, or twitter. So, lots of new things to consider
and figure out. I liked being able to look at everyone's blogs. We all the take
information that we see and find different key points in it. I think that
Gerald's info-graphic spoke to me the most. It was straight forwards and really
showed exactly what could happen in the classroom to create a productive
outcome. Differentiated instruction can seem scary when I look at is as a
whole, but when I break it down into smaller parts it seems more manageable and
attainable. It also gives me inspiration to keep working towards a better
teaching practice. I commented on a couple different peoples blogs, but the
conversation that stuck out to me was Gerald’s. He had mentioned that it can sometimes
be hard to differentiate for math and it made me think about the difference
between high school and elementary classrooms. It also made me think about how
the math classes are set up to begin with. It seems like more students would be
receptive to learning math if it pertained more to their life. Maybe having
math classes for people who want to go into business, medical, or even everyday
math like taxes, mortgages, and a budget. It seems like this approach would be differentiated and create meaningful learning for far more students.
